​WCSO Modifies Services Due to COVID-19 Beginning Monday

Civil Process, Taxes, Writs, and Executions 

Due to the public health concerns of COVID-19, the Wake County Sheriff’s Office Judicial Services Division’s hours of operation will be modified.

Several services will be affected including; Civil and Magistrate Summons, Order to Show Cause, Civil Foreclosure, Notice of Hearing, Notice of Rights, Civil/Criminal Subpoena, Special Proceedings, Estate Hearing, Writs of Possession & Tax Payments, Civil Execution & Payments.

  • Hours of Operation: 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday
  • ALL Civil Process: 1 to 5 p.m., by placing in the appropriate drop box in the lobby of the John H. Baker, Jr. Public Safety Center.
  • Call 919-856-6900 for questions.
  • Forms of payment: Check or money order. The service fee is $30 per defendant, with a valid Wake County address.

Permits and Sex Offender Registry

New Carry Concealed Permits (CCP):

  • CCBI has suspended fingerprinting services for CCP applicants until April 30, 2020.
  • The WCSO will be unable to process any NEW CCP permits as fingerprinting is a requirement.
  • Applicants may make appointments after April 30, by visiting wakeso.permitium.com.

CCP Renewals:

  • Will be conducted by appointment only by visiting wakeso.permitium.com.
  • Appointments between March 25, 2020, and April 30, 2020 are restricted to those applicants who expire prior to April 30.
  • Applicants whose permits expire after April 30 can schedule an appointment for dates beyond April 30 through the website.
  • For change of address questions or for duplicate cards, call 919-856-6949.

Pistol Purchase Permits

  • Applicants who applied and have already submitted a mental health waiver prior to March 25, 2020 are still being processed.
  • Issued permits will be mailed to the applicant.
  • Applicants who have NOT submitted a signed mental health waiver prior to March 25 will have to submit a mental health waiver form, after April 30, for the application process to continue.
  • New applications will be accepted starting May 1.
