​Wake County Businesses Encouraged to Apply for Waste Reduction Grants

Up to $10,000 available for innovative projects

Wake County businesses, nonprofits and other organizations with innovative ideas for reducing the waste they generate can now apply for funding to make these ideas a reality.

Wake County’s Solid Waste Management Division is currently accepting applications for the Commercial Waste Reduction Grant Program. Commercial, industrial, institutional and nonprofit agencies looking to increase their waste prevention efforts and decrease the amount of waste sent to landfills are encouraged to apply.

Through the grant program, organizations can receive up to $10,000 to fund innovative commercial waste reduction projects. A maximum of $40,000 will be awarded through this program from the county. Visit our website to download the grant application packet. Applications will be accepted until 5 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 14.

Previously-funded projects include plastic bottle recycling programs, composting programs in university cafeterias, plastic bag recycling at local grocery stores and environmental education programs at summer camps.
