2/15/2008

Wake County Environmental Services' Food Sanitation Section conducted a public opinion survey from January 10-21, 2008. During the 11-day survey, 1,000 people logged onto WakeGov.com to answer questions and provide valuable feedback that will be used to define program priorities. The survey yielded the following findings:

  • 64 percent of the survey respondents indicated that they eat at a food service establishment three or more times per week.
  • 73 percent of the survey respondents indicated that the County’s sanitation score impacts their decision to eat at a food service establishment.
  • 55 percent indicated that food service establishments should be inspected at least quarterly, and 31 percent of the survey respondents indicated that food service establishments should be inspected at least monthly.

Of the 1,000 respondents, 580 submitted a written response to the final survey question, "How can Wake County improve its food safety inspection program?" To view the survey results and written responses directly, visit www.wakegov.com/foodsafety/survey.
