FEATURE: Wake County Recognizes Employee Award Winners

Wake County is proud to recognize and honor the recipients of the Garland H. Jones Excellence in Public Service Awards. The awards are given yearly to employees who exemplify outstanding customer service in their interactions with citizens throughout Wake County, as well as colleagues.
Awards are given in four categories based on a competitive application process and according to job scope. The categories are Professional/Technical, Technical/Service Maintenance, Manager/Supervisor/Team Leader, and Team.
The winners received their awards personally from County Manager David Cooke and Deputy County Manager Joe Durham, as follows:
Professional/Technical
Monica Lucas is a library assistant at the Richard B. Harrison Library. She is recognized for her enthusiasm toward customers and her ability to remember their tastes in literature, among other valuable skills that keep library patrons returning for her assistance.

Technical/Service Maintenance
Reyes Arroyo is a facility HVAC technician. With a “do it right the first time” attitude, he keeps his skills updated and is always looking for ways to better himself, as well as to provide outstanding service to customers and Wake County.

Manager/Supervisor/Team Leader
Celia Farrell is the Employees Relations Manager in Human Resources (HR). She is recognized as an excellent advisor, mentor and coach. Celia has a number of years experience in many functions of HR, including service as interim HR department head.

Team
The Breastfeeding Team is composed of Karen Jarmon, Jam Gourley, Vivien Omile, Kenyatta Elliott, Carmen Larson, Mercedes Ortiz, Veronica Bacerra and Katie Furnas. This team is dedicated to breastfeeding education and technique when working with their clients – new Wake County mothers who need nurturing and caring assistance.
