1/9/2008

Wake County’s Board of Commissioners opened the new Northern Regional Center (NRC), 350 Holding Avenue in Wake Forest, with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, January 9, 2008. The NRC will begin accepting clients on Thursday, January 10, 2008, and will operate from 8:15 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Wake County Commissioners and the mayors of Wake Forest and Rolesville cut the ribbon to open the Northern Regional Center."The Northern Regional Center is a key component of building Foundations for the Future and will provide much needed support for the expanding northern part of Wake County," said Wake County Board of Commissioners Chair, Joe Bryan.

The NRC will offer a wide variety of programs, including:

  • Economic Programs
  • Child Welfare
  • Family Support
  • Health Clinics
  • Behavioral Health
  • Sheriff’s Office
  • Environmental Services
  • Community Services
  • Revenue
  • JobLink
  • Resource Room

"The services offered at the NRC are all programs that people living in the outlying communities of the County need, but often do not have access to," said Bryan. "The Board of Commissioners is proud to offer these services at all of our regional centers, and help them become real centers of activity in our communities."

The vision of the Northern Regional Center is to assure that citizens have access to needed, quality services that are community-based and in one convenient location. The NRC is one of the County’s strategies to deliver services in coordination with a network of community partners including local municipalities, schools, faith-based and civic organizations.

Located on property adjacent to the Wake Forest Library, the NRC will provide Wake County services to residents in Wake Forest, Rolesville and all of northern Wake County. Citizens from Wake Forest and Rolesville have given input on the scope of services at the center, which will be the County's third regional center.

The Eastern Regional Center in Zebulon and the Southern Regional Center in Fuquay-Varina house such services and programs as child protective services, health clinics, Medicaid, food assistance, Sheriff's office, fire and rescue, Revenue collections, food industry service, animal control, JobLink, housing resources, and waste, water and development programs.
