FEATURE: Household Hazardous Waste Collection and Electronics Recycling Event to be Held in Garner

Wake County, in partnership with the Town of Garner, will hold a special household hazardous waste collection and electronics recycling event on Saturday, September 19, 2009, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Garner High School, located at 2101 Spring Drive, Garner. The goal of the program is to provide more convenient recycling and collection options to citizens.

The event will be similar to special household hazardous waste events held in Knightdale and Cary earlier in 2009. Nearly 1,000 citizens participated in the first two events collecting over 64,000 pounds of hazardous waste and recyclable electronic materials.

Accepted household hazardous waste materials and electronics include, but are not limited to, paint, automobile fluids, cooking oil, telephones, microwave ovens and hair dryers. A complete list of acceptable and unacceptable items can be found at www.wakegov.com/recycling.
