NEWS: Wrap Up the Holiday Season by Recycling Waste
1/6/2009
From wrapping paper to Christmas trees to television sets, Wake County citizens can recycle a variety of celebration waste during the annual Holiday Wrap Up Recycling Event. Residents can recycle wrapping paper, trees, gift boxes and greeting cards at the five Convenience Centers listed below, Friday, December 26, 2008 through Monday, January 19, 2009, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Convenience Centers will be closed one-half day on Christmas Eve and all day on Christmas.
The County's program will accept the following materials: Christmas trees (remove ornaments, lights and tinsel); corrugated cardboard; chip board (paper roll tubes, cereal boxes, etc.); glossy magazines/catalogs; greeting cards; SBS board (shirt boxes, etc.); and wrapping paper (no bows or foil).
Trees Only
Wake County citizens can recycle their Christmas trees at the following Wake County Parks between Friday, December 26 and Monday, January 19, from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. All County Parks will be closed Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
Last year 3,381 trees were collected through the Holiday Wrap Up Program. The goal is to collect more trees this year. Christmas trees are chipped and used as cover material for County park trails.
Televisions Only
Citizens can recycle television sets year-round at Wake County’s Multi-Material Recycling Facilities. The locations listed below are open Monday – Saturday from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.
