FEATURE: White Flag Network Offers Heat Relief to Homeless

There are some days when everyone should remain out of the extreme heat, especially when temperatures rise near record highs. To help prevent heat-related illnesses, the White Flag Network offers homeless people access to cooling facilities when the heat index rises above 101 degrees Fahrenheit. The following facilities participate in the program and will display white flags through September 15, 2009.

The White Flag Network is a group of Raleigh agencies that have collaborated to allow homeless people entrance into their buildings throughout the day. This year marks the network’s seventh summer and winter in operation.
