NEWS: Wake Seeks Citizen Input for Community Assessment

Wake County is conducting a community needs assessment to identify physical, mental, economic and environmental health concerns, as well as safety and lifelong learning factors affecting residents. Beginning Wednesday, September 9, 2009, surveyors will be out in Central Raleigh, Garner and Knightdale, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., conducting randomly selected door-to-door surveys to get citizen input on the most pressing needs in the community. The survey will take about 30 minutes.

"We want to encourage the residents that are visited to complete the survey and let us know what issues they feel are important," said Wake County Human Services Director Ramon Rojano. "Every four years the State asks local health departments to conduct community assessments. The information received from citizens will help us identify and respond to the needs of Wake County residents."

A total of 1,890 randomly-selected surveys will be collected from different parts of the County. The information gathered during the assessment will be analyzed and put into a report. In 2010, community members will use the report to develop an action plan to improve services to citizens.
