Commissioners to Tour Eastern Wake County

2/15/2008

The Wake County Board of Commissioners (BOC) will tour the Eastern Wake County municipalities of Knightdale, Wendell and Zebulon on Monday, February 18, 2008 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

"The three mayors have proposed an aggressive itinerary that will give us needed insight into Eastern Wake County issues," said Wake Chairman Joe Bryan. "It’s important for County Commissioners to see first-hand some of our collaborative work that is completed, under way or still in the planning stage with our municipal partners."

"Eastern Wake County is one of the fastest developing parts of our County," said Wendell Mayor J. Harold Broadwell II. "This tour will provide the opportunity for the County and local towns to plan continued sustainable growth to benefit us all."

"By working together, we are able to do more for the people who live in Knightdale now and prepare for future growth," said Knightdale Mayor Russell Killen. "I am thrilled to meet with the Commissioners, and have the opportunity to show them the Knightdale High School Community Park, East Regional Library and the Knightdale Public Safety Center that we have built together."

"We have many exciting things going on in Zebulon," said Zebulon Mayor Bob Matheny. "I am very excited to show the Board of Commissioners just a few of the projects they have helped us to fund. Particularly, the new Wakelon school and park, the armory that will soon become our recreation center and Five County Stadium."
