NEWS: Citizens Encouraged to Recycle Plastic, Oil, Wood Pallets

Wake County is urging citizens to recycle plastic, oil and wood pallets in accordance with a new North Carolina law that will go into effect on October 1, 2009. It will be against the law to throw these items away in any county, including Wake, in North Carolina. The law also coincides with the Wake County Board of Commissioners' "Going Green" initiative for 2009.
Recycling for plastic bottles is available:
- At all 11 Wake County Convenience Centers
- Via curbside recycling in Apex, Fuquay-Varina, Garner, Holly Springs, Cary, Knightdale, Morrisville, Raleigh, Rolesville, Wake Forest, Wendell and Zebulon
- At the South Multi-Material Recycling Facility, 61300 Old Smithfield Road, Apex (starting October 1)
- At the North Multi-Material Recycling Facility, 9029 Deponie Drive, Raleigh (starting October 1)

The N.C. Division of Waste Management will enforce the disposal bans at all Wake County landfills and will levy fines according to the severity of the infractions.
