NEWS: Two Areas of Wake's Yates Mill County Park Closed Due to Flooding

Historic Yates Mill County Park, 4620 Lake Wheeler Road, Raleigh, has received over 5.8 inches of rain leading to a 2 foot increase in the pond's water level and several safety concerns.The mill yard has been washed out, and access to the mill yard, gristmill, and Mill Pond Trail loop is currently closed. The scheduled corn-grinding for Saturday, June 20, 2009 will be rescheduled.

Yates Mill, like all water-powered mills, is heavily impacted by large amounts of rainfall.
