NEWS: Wake to Open New Human Services Location April 1
3/30/2009
Wake County will open the new Millbrook Human Services Center, 2809 E. Millbrook Road, Raleigh, on Wednesday, April 1, 2009. The hours of operation will be Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:15 p.m.
Programs and services scheduled to be offered at the new location, which will allow Wake County to bring services closer to residents in the Brentwood/Mini City area of North Raleigh, include:
· WIC (Women, Infants and Children)
· Child Care Subsidy
· Child Service Coordination
· HIV/STD program
· Health Promotions
· Immunizations
· Community Affairs
· Family and Youth Success
“The need for this new location comes from numerous community assessments,” said Human Services Director Ramon Rojano. “We have a high volume of cases and clients from the North Raleigh area, and the Millbrook location will allow us to better serve those individuals closer to where they live. I am pleased that we were able to make this happen by strategically relocating some staff from various programs, without adding any additional resources.”
The Center will also serve as a JobLink Information Site, with six computers available, where citizens can conduct Internet job searches and meet with an employment advisor by appointment. A nurse practitioner will be offering limited clinical services on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
The County’s Ready to Learn program will offer activities to children who accompany their parents to the Center, and the Mary E. Wilson Foundation will conduct computer literacy classes, registration will be required.
To schedule an employment advisor appointment, call Janny Flynt at (919) 431-4030. For more information, visit www.wakegov.com/humanservices.
