FEATURE: Wake County Offers Depression Screening

Wake County Human Services will be offering free, anonymous screenings for depression, manic depression, anxiety disorders and post traumatic stress disorder on Thursday, October 8, 2009, as part of National Depression Screening Day.
Screening locations and times include:
Wake County Human Services
220 Swinburne St., Raleigh
9 a.m. – 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. – 3 p.m.
Wake County Community Health Building
10 Sunnybrook Road, Raleigh
8:30 a.m. – 11 a.m.
*Spanish-speaking mental health professional available
Northern Regional Center
350 E. Holding Ave., Wake Forest
9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Southern Regional Center
130 N. Judd Parkway, Fuquay-Varina
10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Cameron Village Regional Library
1930 Clark Ave., Raleigh
Noon – 5 p.m.
Participants can complete a written screening test, receive feedback from a mental health professional about survey results and learn about local treatment resources. Mental health professionals will be available to answer questions and provide individualized feedback.
More than 19 million Americans will experience an episode of depression this year; however, medication and psychotherapy can help people improve rapidly.
Anyone who would like to learn more about depression is invited to attend one of the locations above.
