Saturday, July 4, 8:30-10 a.m. – Birding with Vernon
Take a stroll through Lake Crabtree County Park to discover different types of birds and their habitats. The event is free. Participants should meet at the Waterwise Garden. For information, call 460-3390. Lake Crabtree County Park is located at 1400 Aviation Parkway, Morrisville.
Monday, July 6-Thursday, July 9, 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. – Teen Sunfish Sailing
Kids ages 12 and older are invited to learn basic sailing and boat handling skills during this three-day course. Teens must weigh at least 90 pounds to participate in the class. The fee to participate is $120 per session. For information, call 460-3390. Lake Crabtree County Park is located at 1400 Aviation Parkway, Morrisville.
Saturday, July 11, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. – Paddle the Pond
Come out for a morning canoe float. After receiving a basic canoeing instruction participants will explore the pond. Canoes, paddles and life jackets will be provided. Prior canoe and swimming experience is desired, but not required. Pre-registration is required. The fee is $5 per person or $10 per boat. There is a limit of 3 people per boat. Saturday, July 18, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. – Fishing Fun
Visit Historic Yates Mill County Park and learn about North Carolina’s native freshwater fish species. Participants will discover what types of fish live in Yates Mill pond and those that were historically associated with water mills. Participants will also learn how to fish with cane poles. Friday, July 24, 8:30-10 p.m. – Night Hike
Bring the entire family, flashlights and a sense of adventure to Lake Crabtree County Park for a night hike. After a brief discussion about local "creatures-of-the-night," participants will take a hike around the park, while learning to identify common night sounds. Registration is encouraged.
