Ben Franklin Exhibit Draws Thousands

Ben Franklin continues to be a popular figure among Wake County citizens. Nearly 2,000 library patrons have visited the national traveling exhibition "Benjamin Franklin: In Search of a Better World" since it opened February 15, 2008, at Cameron Village Regional Library. The exhibition, which reflects on Franklin’s life and contributions will be available for viewing through Friday, March 28, 2008. Cameron Village Regional Library is located at 1930 Clark Ave. in Raleigh.

Citizens are invited to attend the panel discussion Journalism and a Free Press on Thursday, March 20, 2008, at 7 p.m. at Cameron Village Regional Library. This is the last event designed to encourage patrons to discuss contemporary applications of Franklin's ideas and principles. The panel for this event includes Ted Vaden, public editor for The News and Observer.

The Benjamin Franklin Tercentenary and the American Library Association organized the exhibit, with support from the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH): great ideas brought to life. Local sponsors include the Wake County Friends of the Library, Tryon Palace Historic Sites and Gardens, and the N.C. Museum of History.
