FEATURE: Fabulous Frogs, Walking for a Cause and Stawberries at Wake County Parks in June

Saturday, June 6, 2-3 p.m. – Fabulous Frogs
Bring the family to enjoy games, crafts and learn frog calls while searching for these fun amphibians. Advanced registration is required. The cost is $3 per person or $5 per family. To register, call 387-2117. Participants are encouraged to meet at the New Hill parking lot, located at 1309 New Hill-Olive Chapel Road, Apex.

Saturday, June 6, 9 a.m.-noon – National Trails Day Volunteer Event
Help celebrate National Trails Day by improving Lake Crabtree County Park’s trail system. Take part in several trail projects, including construction, maintenance and litter removal. Individual volunteers and organized groups are welcome. For information, call 460-2723. Lake Crabtree County Park is located at 1400 Aviation Parkway, Morrisville.

Saturday, June 6, 4-8 p.m. – Take Steps for Crohn’s & Colitis
Walk for a great cause by taking part in the Take Steps for Crohn’s & Colitis Walk-A-Thon at Lake Crabtree County Park. The goal is to raise $60,000 for research and patient education to ensure a better life for those affected by the diseases. The walk is a casual two-mile stroll through the park. Monday, June 8; Wednesday, June 10; Friday, June 12, 1-3 p.m. – Eco-Kids: Birds of Blue Jay
Parents and kids ages 4 and 5 are invited to learn about birds at Blue Jay Point County Park. Participants will learn about the life of a bird, how to identify bird songs and how different birds "earn a living." The fee for the event is $25 per child, which includes staff supervision, crafts and activities. Parents are urged to fill out registration forms in advance. For information, call 870-4330. Saturday, June 13, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. – Paddle the Pond
Come out for a morning canoe float at Historic Yates Mill County Park. After a basic instruction, "paddle the pond" and explore nature only seen from the water. Canoes, paddles and life jackets will be provided. Prior canoe and swimming experience is desired, but not required. The cost to participate is $5 per adult or $10 per boat, with a limit of three people per boat. To register, call 856-6675. Saturday, June 20, 4-7 p.m. – Strawberry Jamboree
Bring your musical instrument to Historic Yates Mill Park during the Strawberry Jamboree. Visitors will gather at the old mill with other interested musicians for an afternoon "jam" session. Monday, June 22 - Friday, June 26, 9 a.m.-noon – Environmental Camps
