FEATURE: Wake County to Host Senior Expo May 30

Wake County and the town of Holly Springs will host the first Senior Expo on Saturday, May 30, 2009, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Holly Springs Cultural Arts Center, 300 W. Ballentine St., Holly Springs. The mission of the expo is to provide seminars, exhibits and health screenings for senior citizens in the Southern region of Wake County. The event is free and open to anyone interested in services, benefits and other issues related to older residents.

Seminars will include:

• The Basics of Medicare
• Legal Strategies for Planning Your Estate
• How Not to be a Victim of Scams, Frauds or other Schemes That Target Seniors
• Disaster Preparedness 101

Health care professionals will also be on hand to provide health screenings for cholesterol, blood pressure and body mass index, as well as provide nutrition counseling for seniors.
