Voter Registration Deadline April 11, 2008

Friday, April 11, 2008, is the last day to register to vote, update your address or change affiliation for the May 6 primary election. The voter registration form must be postmarked by, or hand delivered to, the Wake County Board of Elections, 337 S. Salisbury St., Raleigh, by 5:00 p.m. on this date.

Citizens may register to vote, make changes in registration or obtain a mail-in registration form at the following locations in Wake County:

  • Board of Elections (Mon.-Fri. 8:30 a.m. to 5:15 p.m.)
  • Public Libraries
  • Drivers License Offices
  • Public Assistance Agencies
  • Agencies Serving Persons with Disabilities
  • Public High Schools
  • Various Town Halls

Voters who are registered with a political party must vote in the primary of their affiliated party. Voters who are not affiliated with a political party may vote in a party primary as long as that party allows it. At this time, both the Democratic and Republican parties allow unaffiliated voters to vote in their primaries.

Voters who are not affiliated with a political party are also free to vote a nonpartisan ballot in the primary and not participate in a party primary.

This completed form must be postmarked or hand-delivered to the Board of Elections by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, April 11, 2008.
