2/23/2009
The Making Magic Family Expo, a day of family-focused activities and entertainment, will be held Saturday, March 28, 2009, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the Expo Center, 1025 Blue Ridge Road, N.C. State Fairgrounds, Raleigh. Proceeds from this event will go to the Making Magic Alliance, which helps provide summer camp opportunities for at-risk youth in Wake County.
"We invite everyone to attend the Making Magic Family Expo, which provides fun and entertaining activities that are family and wallet friendly," said Wake County Board Chair Harold H. Webb. "This event not only allows families an opportunity to bond, but proceeds from the event also provide assistance for children right here in Wake County to attend a life enriching summer camp this year."
The event will feature a Kid’s Zone with inflatables, a Wii Challenge and more than a dozen other activities. The Sports Zone will show the National Collegiate Athletic Association men’s basketball tournament and offer comfortable chairs. Live entertainment will also be provided throughout the event. All activities are included in the price of admission.
Tickets are $8 for ages 13 and up, $3 for ages 6 to 12 and children under age 6 are admitted free. Tickets are available at the door. Coupons for discount admission are being distributed throughout the community and include an opportunity for a family of four to be admitted for $20.
The Making Magic Alliance is a community partnership of local volunteers, business donors, Wake County Human Services and the N.C. 4-H Development Fund. More than 2,500 at-risk children have benefited from Magic Camp experiences since 2002.
