NEWS: Wake to Host Kick Off to a Heart-Healthy 2009

Wake County Parks, Recreation and Open Space and Rex Healthcare are continuing their partnership toward heart-healthy activities with Kick Off to a Heart-Healthy 2009 on Saturday, January 10, 2009, 1 to 4 p.m., at the American Tobacco Trail, 1309 New Hill-Olive Chapel Road, Apex.

Rex health professionals will provide free health screenings and resources, including blood-pressure checks, body mass index readings, health risk assessments and Ask the Nutritionist. Wake County Parks staff will lead guided nature walks on the Trail on the half hour. No appointments are needed, and all activities and services are free.

REI will provide free bike inspections, safety tips and question and answer sessions. Triangle Off-Road Cyclists will offer guided trail rides and techniques. Fitness experts from Lifestyle Family Fitness of Apex will demonstrate proper stretching, warm-up and cool-down exercises.
