Thursday, August 6, 5-6 p.m. – Comical Pets
Come to Southgate Branch Library to learn how comics make us laugh – and think. Participants will examine popular comics to see what they teach readers about animals and how we think about animals. Monday, August 10, 7-8 p.m. – Men of Mystery
Come and hear from some of North Carolina’s mystery writers during the N.C. Men of Mystery author event at the Page Walker Arts & Cultural Center in Cary. Business counselors from Service Corps of Retired Executives (SCORE) will offer free and confidential counseling to new and existing business owners during a business counseling workshop. Wednesday, August 12, 7-8 p.m. – Nutritional Microscopy
Learn about the practice of microscopy and how it relates to your health during a workshop at North Regional Library. Microscopy is the practice of investigating a live sample of blood using "phase contrast" under the lens of a microscope. With just a single drop of blood placed on a slide, the practitioner can view the various conditions of the blood cells, platelets and plasma while you see the image on a monitor. Participants will learn what they need to do to feel better when experiencing an illness. For information, or to pre-register for this event, call 870-4000. Wednesday, August 19, 10:30-11:30 a.m. – Preschool Story Time
