FEATURE: Free Tdap Clinics for Rising Sixth-Graders

Wake County Human Services will hold free Tdap clinics in County regional centers in July and August to allow rising sixth-grade students to obtain their updated immunization. The Tdap booster provides protection against whooping cough, tetanus and diphtheria, and is required by law for all students entering the sixth-grade if five or more years have passed since their last tetanus shot.

July clinics will be held from 3-5 p.m. at the following locations:

· Monday, July 27, 2009 – Millbrook Human Services Center, 2809 E. Millbrook Road, Raleigh
· Tuesday, July 28, 2009 – Western Wake Center, 150 Cornerstone Dr., Cary
· Wednesday, July 29, 2009 – Northern Regional Center, 350 E. Holding Ave., Wake Forest
· Thursday, July 30, 2009 – Eastern Regional Center, 1002 Dogwood Dr., Zebulon
· Friday, July 31, 2009 – Southern Regional Center, 130 North Judd Parkway, Fuquay-Varina

August clinics will be held from 9-11 a.m. and from 1-4 p.m. at the following locations:

· Tuesday, August 4, 2009 – Northern Regional Center, 350 E. Holding Ave., Wake Forest
· Tuesday, August 11, 2009 – Eastern Regional Center, 1002 Dogwood Dr., Zebulon
· Tuesday, August 18, 2009 – Southern Regional Center, 130 North Judd Parkway, Fuquay-Varina

There will be no charge for the vaccine and clinics will operate on a first-come, first-served basis. Parents are asked to bring their child’s immunization record at the time of visit.
