FEATURE: Wake to Host Youth Development Meeting for Teens, Adults

Wake County will host an information meeting for teens who are interested in taking part in the Youth Leadership Institute on Thursday, September 17, 2009, at 6:30 p.m., at Cameron Village Regional Library, 1930 Clark Ave., Raleigh. Adults interested in serving as advisors are also encouraged to attend the meeting. The program was created as a part of Wake County’s 4-H Youth Development and is funded by the John Rex Endowment grant.
The Youth Leadership Institute is for Wake County teens between the ages of 14 and 18, and focuses on teaching life skills in the following areas:
- Leadership/Responsibility
- Public Speaking
- Business Etiquette
- Communication/Team-Building
- Decision-Making
- Financial Literacy
- Goal-Setting/Career Preparation
- Public Policy/Civic Involvement
The Institute currently has 31 active participants who have completed workshops in these focus areas and are taking part in community service projects throughout the County.
