NEWS: Workforce Development Helps Laid-Off Workers

The Capital Area Workforce Development Local Team will conduct an information session for employees of Fowler Contracting TODAY, March 9, 2009, from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m., at the Wake County Commons Building, 4011 Carya Drive, Raleigh.

Fowler Contracting, a site development and construction company, will be closing their Cary facility in April 2009, and 243 people are expected to lose their jobs. The Capital Area Workforce Development Local Team will provide information such as training and new employment opportunities, to help laid-off workers transition back into the workforce. The Capital Area Local Team is made up of the following entities:

  • Wake County Human Services
  • Capital Area JobLink Career Center
  • Employment Security Commission
  • Wake Technical Community College

The mission of the Capital Area Workforce Development Board is to create a highly skilled workforce system by providing employers with productive, skilled workers, and by offering citizens training and employment opportunities that promote job satisfaction and economic stability. The Capital Area Workforce Development Board is located in Raleigh and serves the citizens of Johnston and Wake counties.
