FEATURE: Identifying Trees, Disc Golf, Amazing Owls and Pecans at Wake County Parks in November

Wednesday, November 11, 1-2:30 p.m. – Autumn Leaves
Kids, ages five to 12, are invited to enjoy a hike through Crowder District Park to view the changing colors of the leaves. Participants will also create a leafy craft to take home. Saturday, November 14, 1-3 p.m. – Getting Treed
Children, ages six to eight, are invited to walk through the forest of Blue Jay Point County Park and help identify trees. Saturday, November 14, 10 a,m.-12 p.m. – Family Disc Golf
Bring the family to Harris Lake County Park to learn how to play disc golf. Learn how to play the sport by joining a professional disc golfer on Harris Lake’s 18-hole disc golf course. Loaner discs will be available. Meet at the disc golf parking lot. The fee is $3 per person or $5 per family. For information, call 919-387-2117. Saturday, November 14, 10 a.m.-12 p.m. – Pecan Pickin’ Day

Sunday, November 15, 1-3 p.m. – Amazing Owls
Participants are invited to Lake Crabtree County Park to learn about owls and to find out which species call the park home. Discover what an owl pellet is and see what‘s hiding inside. Learn how to identify common owls by their calls, habitats and food webs. The fee is $3 per person or $5 per family. Meet at White Oak Shelter. For information, call 919-460-3390. Saturday, November 21, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. – Fall Family Fun Day
Bring the family for a day of fun at Historic Yates Mill County Park. Tour the mill, take a scenic tour of the millpond in a canoe, participate in some old-time cane pole fishing, practice your acting skills by participating in a play or enjoy hiking around the park. Sunday, November 22, 2-3:30 p.m. – Biking Fun
Bikers of all ages are invited to enjoy a day of cycling around the American Tobacco Trail. While on the trail, participants will enjoy a beautiful display of fall foliage, view beaver habitats and find deer tracks. Participants should be able to ride a distance of two miles.
