Saturday, November 7, 10:30-11 a.m. – Fire Safety
Bring the family to West Regional Library to meet with members of the Cary Fire Department. Firemen will share information about fire safety and what citizens can do to protect themselves. Saturday, November 7, 11 a.m.-noon – Library Birthday Celebration
Celebrate Wake Forest Community Library’s 13th birthday. Participants will enjoy activities and birthday cake. For information, call 919-554-8498. Wake Forest Community Library is located at 400 E. Holding Ave., Wake Forest.

Monday, November 9, 10 a.m.-noon – Employment Assistance
Job seekers are encouraged to take advantage of a workshop to help them find employment. The event, sponsored by JobLink and AmeriCorps, will provide assistance with creating and improving resumes, and job searching skills. For information, call 919-557-1121. Thursday, November 12, 4-5:15 p.m. – Resume Wizard
Learn how to create effective resumes using Microsoft Word by taking part in a workshop at the Express Library in downtown Raleigh. Intermediate computer experience is required. For information, call 919-856-6868. The Express Library is located at 336 Fayetteville St., Raleigh.

Saturday, November 14, 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. – Saturday Science
School-aged children are invited to Richard B. Harrison Library to learn about computer science and counting using the base-2 number system. Participants will use twine and beads to learn knotting techniques. The event is appropriate for kids ages five and up. For information, call 919-856-5721. Richard B. Saturday, November 14-Sunday, November 22, various times – Annual Book Sale
Book lovers are invited to the annual Wake County Public Library Book Sale at its new location, 1514 Garner Station Blvd., in the South Station Shopping Center, Raleigh. The shopping center is located off of U.S. 401 South, near the Highway 70 East /U.S. 401 South split. More than 300,000 books will be available for purchase.

Prices for the first five days are $4 for hardbound books and $1 for paperbacks:

  • Saturday, November 14, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Sunday, November 15, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Wednesday, November 18, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Thursday, November 19, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Friday, November 20, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Half price day is Saturday, November 21, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Books are $2 for hardbound and $.50 for paperbacks. The final day of the sale is Sunday, November 22, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Books are $5 per box or $2 per bag.

Cash and checks will be accepted, and patrons are encouraged to bring hand trucks or book carts to use as they find great bargains.

Tuesday, November 17, 7-8:30 p.m. – Improving Your Health
Attend a workshop at North Regional Library to learn about natural methods to decrease neck and low back pain. Back pain is one of the most common reasons for missed work. This program will discuss how chiropractic and other alternative therapies, exercise, proper posture and diet can help prevent neck and low back pain. To register for the program, call 919-870-4000. Tuesday, November 17, 2:45-4:45 p.m. – Crafty Kids
