Saturday, May 9, 1-2 p.m. – Waterwheel Craft for Kids
Explore the history, construction, and operation of waterwheels, and then construct a paper wheel that turns by water power! Registration is required. The fee is $3 per participant. Monday, May 11 – Wednesday, May 13, 5-7 p.m. – Adult Sunfish Sailing Classes
Adults and kids ages 12 and up are invited to learn how to sail Sunfish boats. The Sunfish is a single-handed boat and the most popular boat worldwide. Its basic design and easy handling makes it a great boat to teach sailing to new sailors both young and old. The day starts with a lesson and end with reinforced sailing practice on the water. Classes will have 8-12 participants per sunfish and participants must be a minimum of 90 lbs. The fee is $60 per session. Additional classes are available through the summer. Saturday, May 16, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. – 3rd Annual Old-Time Community Picnic

Saturday, May 23, 10 a.m.-noon – Cane Pole Fishing
Try to catch the "one that got away" at Historic Yates Mill County Pond by going pole fishing. Participants ages 6 and up will be provided with a cane pole with tackle, bait, and basic instruction, and assistance with identifying fish species. Registration is encouraged, but not required. Saturday, May 30, 10 a.m. – Raleigh Little-Big Adventure Race
Children and adults are invited to team up for the 2009 Raleigh Little-Big Adventure Triathlon at Lake Crabtree County Park. Child/Adult teams compete together in a .5-mile canoe course, 3.5-mile trail bike ride and a 1.5-mile run. Children must be between the ages of 7 and 17. Adults must be 18 and older. Ten competing divisions are based on the age and gender of the child member of the team. Age groups: 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14, 15-17.
