NEWS: Wake to Provide H1N1 Vaccinations at Five Clinics, 11/05/2009Wake County has received 9,900 doses of the H1N1 vaccine and will open five H1N1 vaccination clinics to people in priority groups on Monday, November 9, 2009. The clinics in Raleigh, Fuquay-Varina, Wake Forest and Zebulon will open at 9 a.m. The new clinic in Cary will open at 10 a.m. All clinics will close when vaccine is no longer available. The Wake County clinics will offer both forms of the H1N1 vaccine, nasal mist and injectable.

The Wake County Animal Care, Control and Adoption Center is offering selected animals for adoption at lower prices. Effective July 1, 2009, fees for senior dogs and senior cats are $20 less than those charged for younger animals. If the pet is already spayed/neutered before coming to the animal shelter, the $50 surgery fee will be waived.

Late last fall the County’s EMS Department began training 17 experienced paramedics for APP. Participants received intense classroom and clinical training to prepare them to operate as single paramedics in cars equipped with EMS equipment. APP launched January 5, 2009.
