The Wake County Detention Center provides a variety of services primarily administered by three groups:
Wake County Magistrates Office
The following operating information may be helpful to conduct business at the Center.
Sheriff’s Office
Arrest Processing
All arrest processing will occur at the Detention Center. Procedures will remain the same.
Visitation
All visitation, regardless of where the inmate is housed, will occur at the Detention Center. Procedures will remain the same.
Bail Bonding
All bail bonding will occur at the new facility.
City-County Bureau of Identification (CCBI)
Fingerprinting Services
Fingerprinting for Employment, VISA, Child Care/Foster Care, Adoption (U.S. and International), ABC Permits, Bar Exam, Nursing License, CPA's, Fingerprint Requests by other States (criminal and civil), and any additional fingerprinting required for civil matters will occur at the Detention Center. Procedures will remain the same.
Photograph Services
- Photograph Services for Taxi Driver Permits and Nursing Licenses will occur at the Detention Center. Procedures will remain the same.
- Photos are not passport or immigration compliant.
Sex Offender Registration
- Sex Offender Registration will remain at the Public Safety Center.
- Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:30 to 11:30 a.m., and 1 to 4:30 p.m.
Concealed Handgun Permits
- Carrying Concealed Handgun Permits will remain at the Public Safety Center.
- Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:30 to 11:30 a.m., and 1 to 4:30 p.m.
Court and Magistrate Functions
LEO: Law Enforcement Officers who have court may contact a Magistrate in the Courthouse between 8:45 a.m. and 4:15 p.m.
Weddings
Weddings will be performed Monday through Friday on the 9th floor of the Courthouse from 10:15 to 11:30 a.m., and 3:15 to 4:30 p.m. Weddings will be performed Monday through Friday at Hammond Road from 5 to 10:30 p.m., and 10:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. on weekends and holidays.
