Cameron Village Regional Library
- Teen Thing
Thursdays from 3-5 p.m. Come join us for crafts, movies, or just to hang out. A different event each week. Sign up at the library or by phone 856-6723.
- July 3 – Duct-Tape Wallets
Make your own wallet out of the most useful stuff in the universe: Duct-Tape!
- July 10 – Movie: The Place Promised in Our Early Days
Set in an alternate universe, this sci-fi story centers around three teenagers, a rip in the space-time continuum, and the perseverance to keep a promise against all odds.
- July 17 – Altered Books
Turn a book into a work of art. This may be the only time the library will every ask you to destroy a book!
- July 24 – Movie: Train Man
Hopeless nerd Densha Otoko falls hard for the girl he rescued on the commuter train and seeks dating advice from net-friends through an online forum – igniting an Internet phenomenon!
- July 31 – Button Bouquets
Turn buttons into flowers in this unique craft event.
- August 7 – Movie: 5 Centimeters per Second
A breathtakingly vivid tableau of young love, desire and hope told in three heartbreaking chapters.
- August 14 – Bottle Cap Magnets
It’s recycling at work! They’re more than fun, they’re useful, too!
- Yoga For Teens
Wednesdays in July from 7:15-8:15 p.m. Yoga is an ancient Indian practice; today, yoga poses and breathing exercises are used to develop physical strength and flexibility and to reduce stress and promote inner calm. Students will learn yoga basics, including breathing, poses and stretches.
Instructor Allison Myers has been doing health work with teenagers since 1999 and has been practicing yoga on and off the mat since 2002. She has a Master of Public Health from UNC-Chapel Hill and is a 2008 graduate of Go Deep Yoga Teacher Training (led by Ti Harmony) in Carrboro, N.C. Yoga classes with Allison are fun-loving and relaxed; everyone is welcome. Please arrive on time, wear comfortable athletic clothing and, if you have one, bring a yoga mat or beach towel.

- Murdery Mystery Night
Saturday, July 12, 6 p.m. “She was her prom's Queen of the Nile until the accident...or was it attempted murder?” Come solve our murder mystery! Prizes will be awarded. Please call 919-856-6723 to register or sign up at the Library.
- Cameron Village Anime Club
Meets the fourth Tuesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. Every month we'll be discussing our favorite titles, learning about new series and screening and reviewing anime. For more information or to be added to our e-mail list, contact Nicole at 919-856-6723.
- Teen Advisory Board
Meets the first and third Monday of each month at 5:30 p.m. Do you need to complete volunteer hours for school? Do you want to have a say in services and events for teens at the Cameron Village Library? Teens in grades 6-12 are invited to join our Teen Advisory Board. - Beat the Heat: Board Games and Snacks
Tuesday, July 1 @ 4-5:30 p.m. If it’s too hot out there, come where it’s cool…the library! Join a bunch of teens for an afternoon of board games and more. Bring your friends and a snack to share.
- Radical Recyclables
Tuesday, July 15 @ 4-5:30 p.m. Take any recyclable items, duct tape and aluminum foil and make a new use for it – a new piece of clothing, bug monster sculpture, helmet, shoes or a purse.
- Iron Chef Challenge call 217-5317 for the secret ingredient
Tuesday, July 29 @ 4-5:30 p.m. All invited to participate – bring your food creation with the secret ingredient for judging and tasting and of course EATING! Have fun cooking and being creative.
- Pizza and Pages!
Tuesdays @ 4 p.m.: July 8, July 22, August 5 right after TLC meetings Come hang out, eat pizza and talk about books and other stuff. Also, there will be pizza. The books for this summer haven't been chosen yet. Check here for more info soon. Don't forget about the pizza!
- Get Involved!
Teen Library Corps TLC ages 13-18 Tuesdays @ 3 p.m.: 7/1, 7/8, 7/15, 7/22, 7/29, 8/5 Join East Regional Library’s TLC! Plan activities for teens, help librarians and earn community service hours. Members must attend weekly meetings and teen library events. Stop by the Youth Services desk to pick up an application or download it.
- Teen Volunteering, ages 12 and up
Help out @ the library and earn community service hours! Up to 10 volunteers work one day per week up to two hours, Monday through Friday. Teens may volunteer for a three-month period with the next session beginning July 1-September 30, followed by October 1-December 31. Stop by the Youth Services desk to pick up an application or download it!

Eva Perry Regional Library
- Wizard Rock Concert (All ages)

- The Murder Game Mystery Play (Rising 7th through 12th grade)
Friday, August 1, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. It's the 1920s and Ann Nonomous has been found murdered. Can you help our cast solve the mystery of where and why this murder was committed? Come dressed in 1920s gear if you like: flapper dresses, fedoras, and swanky suits. Please call 387-2120 or stop by the Youth Services desk to preregister for this program. Seats are limited.
- Teen Advisory Board (Ages 13-17)
2nd Saturday of the month, 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. No meeting in June or July; Next meeting in the fall of 2008 Help plan programs for other teens. All teens are welcome to attend meetings. - Teen Library Corps
Are you between 13 and 16 years old and would like to commit to 50 hours of volunteer work at North Regional Library Then the Teen Library Corps may be for you! Members of the TLC volunteer during the summer for 8 or 12 hours a week in the Youth Services department for a total of 50 hours. Teens will be responsible for shelving, labeling books, preparing craft projects for programs and assisting with our Summer Reading Club. Members will receive valuable work experience, a TLC T-shirt and more! The TLC volunteer program is sponsored by the Junior Woman’s Club of Raleigh. Applications will be available from May 1 through May 12 at the Youth Services desk. The eight available slots will be filled by a lottery drawing shortly thereafter.
