Borrowing & Returning
Borrowing Books
- Most books may be checked out for three weeks.
- Books checked out for a shorter period of time will have a sticker on the back, telling you how long the book may be borrowed.
- You may renew your books unless they have been requested by someone else.
Returning Books
Books may be returned to any Wake County Public Library. Please return borrowed materials on or prior to the due date. If books are not returned on time, fines will be applied to your account.
Public School Library Books
From time to time, library patrons will mistakenly return a library book from a Wake County Public School library to one of our library locations. When this occurs, the Wake County Public Library System transfers these books to Athens Drive Community Library, which serves as a library for Athens Drive High School and for the surrounding community. Once the book reaches Athens Drive Community Library, it is transferred into the system for the public school libraries where it is returned to its rightful location.
We encourage you to make every effort to return public school library books back to the original lending location.
