Two Week Checkouts!
All Wake County Public Library materials will check out
for two weeks beginning May 2, 2011.
This includes all print material (including new books), audio books, downloadable audio, and eBooks.
Why the change?
- Feedback from customers indicates that 7 days is frequently not long enough to read a new book
- Two weeks will allow most of the collection to be available to another customer sooner, making better use of resources
- A consistent loan period eliminates the need for additional processing of books and CDs in order to indicate due date, allowing those resources to be put into additional titles
- All two weeks, all the time—it’s easy to remember!
- Please talk to any staff member if you need assistance renewing your materials.
Check It Out – Due Dates Available Online or On-Receipt
As of May 2, all materials will be due two weeks from the date of checkout, with renewals available if no one is waiting. Checking your due date is easy!
- Log in to your account on our website and view all items you have checked out, along with their due dates. Visit www.wakegov.com/libraries and click on MY ACCOUNT. Be sure to have your membership number and PIN ready (check with library staff if you don’t know your PIN).

- Ask for a receipt at checkout. We’re happy to provide you with a print list of the titles you’ve checked out, even those you’ve already got at home, and their due dates.
Library materials will no longer have a label for stamping a due date beginning in May, allowing those resources to go into additional materials.
Downloadable eBooks and Audiobooks from OverDrive
The checkout periods will also change for our eBooks from OverDrive. Both eBooks and audiobooks will have the choice of either a one week or a two week loan period.
