VIDEO: 2009 Summer Reading Program
|
Summer is here, and Wake County Public Libraries has tons of reading fun in store for you. Children, teen and adult readers can participate in our summer reading programs – read about details below. Don't forget to check out
events and programs for all ages, all summer long, at
library locations across Wake County.

Summer Reading for Kids
We have an exciting Summer Reading Program theme for children this year! Be Creative @ your Library will kick off at Wake County Public Libraries during the month of June. Children will be offered a reading record to list the books that they read during the summer months, and to keep a count of the total number of minutes they spend reading. There will be "Creative" themed storytimes and activities at our branch and regional libraries for children of all ages. Visit our "Events" page on this website, or call or visit your local library to get the details about Kick-off Celebrations and other summer programs for children.

Teen Summer Reading Contest – Express Yourself!
Starting June 1*, go to your local library and pick up a Teen Summer Contest kit and register. Then, start earning tickets that will go into drawings for prizes. The more tickets you earn, the better your chances are of winning something! Check out contest details on the Teen Summer Reading Contest Web page! Also check your library branch's event calendar for teen events this summer. * Starting dates may vary – check with your library branch.

Adult Summer Reading Program
The Adult Summer Reading Program returns with a theme that encourages fun and games while reading. Pick up one of six different cards with games on one side and staff suggestions on the other – all summer long! Collect them all as different lists come out every two weeks. Plus, play "book bingo" by reading different types of books, and enter your name in our drawing for a chance to win fun prizes at the end of the summer.
