Wake County Public Libraries hosted its annual Booksale and Festival of Reading March 29-April 1, 2012 in the Jim Graham Building on the NC State Fairgrounds. Early reports indicate another successful year for this popular community event.
- The Library raised approximately $190,000 in gross sales.
- Over 18,000 people visited during the four day sale.
- Of the 450,000 books for sale, only 30,000 remained unsold.
- 130,000 volumes were given to the Wake County Public Schools for use in classrooms and media centers.
Wake County Public Libraries would like to thank the 500 members of the community who volunteered to help make this event successful. WCPL also thanks the local musicians and dancers who performed on Friday and community groups such as Marbles Kids Museum, SAI Music Fraternity, Wake County Parks, Recreation and Open Space, and the City of Raleigh Recycling Department who helped make Saturday family-friendly with many interactive activities for children.
