Dear Athens Drive High School library visitors,
We recently told you that public library service will end at Athens Drive High School on July 26, 2015. Following that announcement, some citizens and elected leaders asked us to examine other options that would allow public library service to continue in the area.

Based on this feedback, we have generated several options for consideration. Each one provides convenient access to the public library service that the community values.

We will present these options at two upcoming public meetings:

Wake County Board of Commissioners Meeting
Monday, July 6, 2015 at 2 p.m.
Wake County Justice Center, Second Floor
Board of Commissioners Room
301 South McDowell St.
Raleigh

Community Meeting: Update on Local Public Library Service
Thursday, July 9, 2015 from 7 p.m.-8:30 p.m.
Athens Drive High School library
1420 Athens Dr.
Raleigh

We invite you to attend either of these meetings to learn what the options are and share your thoughts on which one you think would best meet the needs of the community. You will also get a better understanding of why security concerns prompted Wake County and Wake County Public Schools to end public library service at Athens Drive High School.

Following these meetings, the Board of Commissioners will review the public comments, evaluate the options in detail and direct staff on the next steps to take. We will continue to keep you updated as the discussion progresses through our website, wakegov.com/libraries.

Thank you for your interest in and use of our library system. We are committed to promoting the love of reading and fostering the pursuit of knowledge for the residents of Wake County.

Sincerely,
 Michael J. Wasilick
Director, Wake County Public Libraries
