Nurse
Sheriff’s Office

Salary Range: $40,700-67,800
Expected Hiring Range: $40,700-67,800

Work Schedule/Location: Full-time day/evening/night/Public Safety Center (330 S. Salisbury Street, Raleigh, NC), Hammond Road Annex   

Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited school of nursing. Eligibility for licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse as issued by the North Carolina Board of Nursing required. A credit history and criminal record check will be conducted.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience working in a correctional facility; one year of nursing experience, including the ability to conduct independent triage.

Duties: Provide inmates with routine and emergency health care in the Medical Division of the Detention Center of the Public Safety Center and the Wake County Detention Annex; conduct health histories of newly-admitted inmates; make referrals of inmates to the staff physician, physician assistant, dentist or mental health professional; ensure all medication is administered in accordance with standard operating procedures and as ordered by authorizing authority.

Notes:  Possession of a current license to work as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina is required.

Detention Officer
Sheriff’s Office

Salary Range: $28,150-46,850
Expected Hiring Range: $28,152-33,000

Work Schedule/Location: Full-time available; 12-hour shifts (Days 7:00a.m-7:00p.m.; Nights 7:00p.m.-7:00a.m.)/Public Safety Center (Hammond Road Annex)  

Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent; U.S. citizen, 21 years of age; no serious misdeamor conviction; no felony conviction; must complete basic training within first year of employment. A valid driver's license and a "safe" driving record required. A credit history and criminal record check will be conducted.

Duties: Perform a variety of work that relates to providing custody and security for sentenced and pre-trial inmates housed in the Wake County Detention facilities.

Notes:  Salary incentives are available for applicants who are Certified Detention Officers, Certified Correctional Officers, hold Associate/Bachelor degrees, have completed military service, have fluency in a foreign language.
