Wake County Building Inspector Named The Best in North Carolina

Don Boelter recently named NC Building Inspector of the Year.Don Boelter, Wake County's Chief Building Inspector, is the best at what he does, according to his peers with the N.C. Building Inspectors Association. Boelter was named recently as North Carolina Building Inspector of the Year during the group's June 27, 2007, state conference in Wilmington.

"We’re very proud of Don being named the state's top building inspector," said County Manager David Cooke. "Don and his team of inspectors provide great service to Wake County’s citizens, making sure homes, businesses and pools in the County meet the highest industry standards."

Boelter has worked in the county's building inspections department for 20 years. Prior to that, he inspected the construction of nuclear power plants. During his career with Wake County, Boelter has helped to supervise the inspection of several projects within the Research Triangle Park, and various renovations and new construction initiatives at the Raleigh-Durham International Airport.

Barry Mooneyham, director of the county's IDPP division, nominated Boelter for the award. "He's provided leadership to his team of inspectors, mentored staff as they move through the certification processes, and shares his knowledge with partners both within and outside the inspections industry," Mooneyham said.

Wake IDPP provides building inspections and permitting services for all unincorporated areas of Wake County and, through contractual agreements, provides building inspection services for the towns of Knightdale, Rolesville, Wendell and Zebulon.
