Your new home undergoes 11 or more inspections before you move in. We do these inspections to make sure that your home is substantially free of any code violations and that it will be safe for you to live in.
When you get settled in your new home, please be sure to locate the inspection sticker inside the electrical panel box indicating the building permit number and date of the final building inspection. If you should have any questions about your home's compliance with the building code, please contact your building contractor to discuss your concerns. If you have additional questions that cannot be answered by your building contractor, please contact our Inspections program staff at 919-856-6060. Our staff will be happy to assist you answering any questions you may have about your building permit or in determining if a building code violation may exist. Please note that we keep copies of inspection reports on file for a period of six years after the date of the last inspection.
