​System Requirements and Browser Configuration 

To electronically submit the online application for a mechanical permit, you must have Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 or above installed on your computer.
 
Other browsers or versions are not supported. If you are using the specified browser versions, and you are still having trouble, you might need to change a configuration parameter in your browser. Review the following table, and confirm that your browser is configured as described.

Configuring Internet Explorer

The following sections describe how to configure Internet Explorer so that you can electronically submit an application for Mechanical Permit. 

Enable JavaScript

To enable JavaScript:

  • On the Internet Explorer menu bar, choose Edit > Preferences.
  • The Internet Options dialog box opens.
  • Click the Security tab.
  • Select the Internet zone.
  • Click Custom Level...
  • The Security Settings dialog box opens.
  • Scroll down to the Scripting section and under Active Scripting, click Enable.
  • Click OK to save your changes.

Launch Acrobat Reader as a Plug-in

By default, Internet Explorer launches Acrobat Reader as a plug-in. If you have changed the default behavior so that IE launches Acrobat Reader as a helper application, do the following:
 
  • Close Internet Explorer.
  • Start Acrobat Reader.
  • In the Reader menu bar, choose Edit > Preferences > General.
  • The Preferences dialog box opens.
  • In the Preferences dialog, choose Options.
  • In the Web Browser Options section, check Display PDF in Browser.
  • Click OK to save your changes.
  • Close Acrobat Reader.

Enable Meta-Refresh

 

To enable meta-refresh:

  • On the Internet Explorer menu bar, choose Edit > Preferences.
  • The Internet Options dialog box opens.
  • Click the Security tab.
  • Select the Internet zone.
  • Click Custom Level...
  • The Security Settings dialog box opens.
  • Scroll down to the Miscellaneous section and under Allow META REFRESH, click Enable.
  • Click OK to save your changes.

Reuse Browser Window

To reuse browser windows:

  • On the Internet Explorer menu bar, choose Edit > Preferences.
  • The Internet Options dialog box opens.
  • Click the Advanced tab.
  • Scroll down to the Browsing section, and check Reuse windows for launching shortcuts.
  • Click OK to save your changes.
