Southern Regional Center
Philosophy and Mission
The Southern Regional Center opened in March 1996 and brings County services to the southern region of Wake County. The south is one of the fastest growing areas within the County, and this trend is expected to continue. The dramatic increase in population presents ongoing challenges to service delivery. The Center represents Wake County's commitment to each citizen through a network of providers and a long-term solution to ensure better access to services. The County's presence within the community encourages improved cooperation and coordination of government and local initiatives, a broader range of services provided in one location, resource sharing among community providers and community ownership. With common goals in mind, community partnerships remove many of the barriers often experienced as a result of distance and service availability. The regionally based service allows Wake County to respond to the local community with a personal and "southern" touch.
