The Analysis of Impediments to Fair Housing Choice (AI) is a comprehensive review of Wake County’s demographics, economics, housing, land use, zoning, transportation and other conditions. It takes the data from this review and assesses how these conditions impede the availability and accessibility of housing to the protected classes. It then describes actions the community can take to overcome identified impediments. A fair housing plan is then developed as part of the five-year Consolidated Plan and one-year Action Plan. The fair housing plan describes the actions Wake County's Housing Program will undertake to address identified impediments.
The 10-Year Action Plan for Ending Homelessness is a partnership effort of Wake County Government, the City of Raleigh, Wake Continuum of Care and Triangle United Way. Local leaders understand that it takes time and effort to tackle issues as complex as homelessness and the need for affordable housing. Long-term plans are in place for both, which allows for a more strategic, comprehensive and effective approach to addressing the low-income housing and community development needs in Wake County, as well as the needs of our homeless population.
