  • It can be fatal (seizures, early death).


RECOVERY:

Recovery is the recognition that drugs have resulted in a loss of control in life. When a person chooses recovery – a life free of drugs and alcohol – It can mean:

  • New possibilities of fun things to do
  • Better family relationships
  • Meaningful friendships
  • Stable employment and education
  • The ability to handle problems in life
  • Renewed connection with spirituality.

ADDICTION:

Addiction is the loss of control in the use of a chemical substance. It can feel good at first, but often leads to serious problems like:

  • Arguments with friends and family
  • Poor job performance and possible job loss
  • Driving restrictions or loss of license
  • Financial problems
  • Homelessness
  • Serious diseases, such as HIV, Hepatitis C and/or liver damage
  • Limited choices in life.

 

The Recovery Center on the WakeBrook Campus is part of Wake County Human Services. We provide evidence based substance abuse services to the residents of Wake County. The Recovery Center also coordinates closely with other community agencies.

ADMISSIONS

Crisis & Assessment Services (CAS) is located in the Crisis Stabilization Center at 107 Sunnybrook Road on the WakeBrook Campus. CAS provides assessment and referral services for Wake County residents. This service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including holidays.

INPATIENT TREATMENT

The Recovery Center offers a comprehensive program utilizing evidence based education and therapy to assist patients with establishing abstinence and sobriety. Length of stay if determined on an individualized basis and typically runs between 3 to 9 days. There are specific sub-programs targeted towards different patient needs including: Relapse Prevention which focuses on teaching a variety of skills to increase the potential for a more stable early recovery journey. Dual Diagnosis treatment is for individuals living with both substance abuse and mental health concerns. 12-step meetings and other support within our community are also introduced.

FAMILY PROGRAM

Patients are encouraged to involve family, friends or significant others in their treatment. This is an opportunity to meet with them to provide education, develop supports and to begin the healing process for all family members. Family support groups (Al-Anon & Nar-Anon), couples group and family education series are also provided

PERINATAL SERVICES

The Step-By-Step Program offers maternity care coordination, case management, outpatient treatment services and a variety of interventions to assist pregnant and postpartum women who have current and/or history of substance use.

WOMEN’S AND MEN’S SERVICES

The Recovery Center serves men and women with gender specific groups on topics relevant to improving treatment outcomes.

PSYCHIATRIC SERVICES
Inpatient Psychiatric Services are provided to those who have a mental health diagnosis or developmental disability in addition to chemical dependency.

The Recovery Center is supported by Federal Block Grants, State/County funds and the Wake County ABC Board. Third-party payments are also accepted.
