A number of therapists are available to provide individual, family or group therapy for children/adolescents ages 4 through 18 who are experiencing emotional or behavioral difficulties; parents and other family members are included in the treatment in order to more effectively bring about improvement in the child/adolescent's functioning. Child mental health providers are available at the Public Health Center, Falstaff building and Southern Regional Center, as well as limited time at the Cary and Wake Forest offices. Psychiatric evaluations for medication administration are available for children/adolescents who would benefit from this form of treatment. Psychological evaluations can be conducted to assist with diagnostic formulation or treatment planning. Case managers are available to assist with referrals for more intensive treatment options such as intensive in-home services and residential treatment, as well as ongoing monitoring and coordination of care. A number of contract providers are also available to provide child mental health treatment, and individuals contacting the intake office will be given an opportunity to choose an in house provider or a contract provider.
