Child Care Subsidy

Quality Childcare...The beginning to a promising start!
The Child Care Subsidy Program provides financial assistance to parents for their child care needs. The child care subsidy is based on an assessment of need, income and family size. If you are eligible, your case manager will assist you in finding a program that meets the needs of your child/children. Parental choice is honored whenever possible. Parental fees are assessed for families who are income-eligible. The amount paid for each child depends on:

Each county receives an annual allocation of state and federal funds used for subsidized child care services for its residents. Wake County also receives funding from the Wake County Smart Start Program. We provide information about choosing and using quality childcare. Local money for childcare scholarships is received from the Wake for Kids Fund, which is provided by the Let's Get to Work Program.

If Wake County Human Services does not have enough funding to serve all families who apply for subsidized child care, the families can apply English Spanish to be placed on a waiting list until funding becomes available. Frequently asked questions: English Spanish. There are several locations that can provide information on child care subsidy services; please feel free to call for more information on child care.

For information about available childcare slots, you can contact Child Care Services Association at 919-779-2220.
