Presentations
Each year, 4-H'ers from across the nation gather information they've learned and use their knowledge of public speaking to share their work with others! 4-H'ers do their first presentations at the county level. Winners from county competition go on to district competition (which takes place in June), and then district winners are invited to do their presentation at 4-H Congress in July at the state level.
Youth ages 5–8 (age as of January 1, 2011) can participate as "Cloverbuds" and do a presentation to get feedback but will not be placed and will not be eligible for district and state competition.
Youth ages 9–18 (age as of January 1, 2011) are eligible to compete for placement at county, district and state levels.
Register for County Presentations
County presentations will took place at the Wake County 4-H Office (4001-E Carya Drive, Raleigh) on April 16, 2011. These youth will continue on to District competition in June and, hopefully, to State competition in July!
Presentations at the county level will take place again in Spring 2012 and it's never too early to start planning or practicing!
Categories
The Presentation Categories Document explains everything you'll need to know about what sorts of presentations fit into each category. Our county-level competition will use the same categories as NC 4-H and our North Central District 4-H. The document that is currently posted is for 2011 and will be updated in early 2012 for Spring 2012 competition.
Awards and Incentives
At the county level, youth who place may be awarded the opportunity to compete at the district level. District competition is held each June. Winners in some categories will receive scholarships for participation in NC 4-H Congress, which is held in July on the campus of NCSU. State-level presentations take place during Congress, though youth winners at District may compete at State competition without attending 4-H Congress. A list of the District awards for each category may be found under "Quick Facts Sheet" below.
