Dog Program

The 4-H Dog Program is NEW in Wake County!

cocker spaniel

Our program includes dog obedience training, skill-a-thons, dog quiz bowl teams, community service opportunities with pets, therapy work, and more!

Want to get involved?

Current 4-Hers are welcome to join the dog program and new members can join at any time. If you live in a county other than Wake, you can also participate. You do not have to own a dog to participate! You can come to activities without a dog, or borrow (with permission!) a friend or neighbor's pet.

We also need volunteers! If you are interested in helping with any of the programs, please call the 4-H office. New volunteers and those with experience are welcome.

Dogs must have a current rabies vaccination and you must either send a copy of the vaccination certificate with your forms or bring it to your first 4-H dog activity. If you need to get your dog vaccinated, you can do so at an upcoming clinic for $5.

Are Your Pets Ready for Severe Weather?

4-H encourages your to "Join the Revolution of Responsibility" and make sure that your pet is ready for severe weather. Do you have enough food, water and medication on hand for your pet?

Read this information sheet to help you get prepared!
