Medicaid & Medicare

Wake County Human Services administers the Medicaid program, an assistance program that helps pay medical bills for some people who have low income and cannot afford health care. Funding for Medicaid comes from federal, state and county sources. Medicaid for adults and Medicaid for children are separate programs.

Medicare is a separate program that is federally funded, and is primarily for persons receiving Social Security benefits; the Medicare Savings Programs are limited assistance programs for individuals enrolled in Medicare Part A and/or Part B.
