Warmth for Wake

Warmth for Wake

Warmth for Wake is a seasonal energy assistance outreach program that is co-sponsored by Wake County Human Services and the North Carolina Bankers Association.

The goal of the program, which kicks off each year on October 31, is to provide fuel to low-income residents of Wake County during the coldest winter months.

The Warmth for Wake program consists of two initiatives:

Financial Assistance to Eligible Families
Warmth for Wake is funded entirely through the 100% tax-deductible contributions of concerned businesses, groups and individuals. All funds raised through this program go directly to families in need, and NO administrative costs are deducted from the proceeds.

Warmth for Wake recipients must be Wake County residents.

Everyone who applies for financial assistance through Warmth for Wake is screened through the Service Intake Division of Wake County Human Services. Eligibility is determined through Wake County Human Services, taking into consideration all income and resources as well as expenses and emergency or special situations that may affect available income. Income guidelines are based on current poverty levels.

Contributions are accepted at any Wake County bank or can be mailed to Warmth for Wake, P.O. Box 46833, Raleigh, NC 27620-6833.

Wood Delivery
With the commitment of a strong volunteer base, Warmth for Wake is able to provide free deliveries of firewood to homes that can use it to supplement their gas or electric heat consumption.

Wood deliveries are currently scheduled for alternating Saturdays from December through mid-March.

2007/2008 Volunteer Dates and Wood Delivery Schedule:

  • November 17
  • December 1, 15, 29
  • January 12, 26
  • February 9, 23
  • March 8, 22

Volunteers are always needed for this program. If you have a truck or trailer, or can supply your own tools to help cut wood at our wood lot, please contact warmthforwake@stpauls.net or 919-787-1278.
