Fans

• Households must request fans through their WCHS Case Worker/Social Worker/Case Manager.
• Referring Worker should verify household has not received fans within the past two years by calling 919-212-7083 and completing a "Fan Referral Form." Qualifying households will be issued a voucher to be redeemed at local retailers for two 20-inch box fans. (Please note: Households with air conditioning should not be referred for fans, unless the air conditioner is not working.)

Air Conditioners

We always get requests for air conditioners. Limited funds do not generally allow us to purchase these, but we occasionally have air conditioners donated. These are usually used and are in various working condition. Since there are so few of these, criteria for getting them is stricter.

Household must contain at least one of the following:

• Senior citizen (65 or older)
• Disabled person with documented respiratory problem (asthma, emphysema, chronic bronchitis) or life-threatening condition (i.e., heart disease, HIV/AIDS)

There are never enough air conditioners to meet all requests, and there's almost always a waiting list. To check on availability or to put someone on the wailing list, call 919-212-7083.
